Akshay featured a wall of authentic faces of criminals in “Cuttputli”

Mumbai 23 August : Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s bedroom in the forthcoming film ‘Cuttputli’ featured a wallthat held more than 500 newspaper clips of actual stories as well as the faces of the criminals.
“Cuttputli” is set in an unassuming town in which a police officer is in the pursuit of the person responsible for the serial murders that plague a small town.

The film reveals a scene in which Akshay studies all psychotic serial killers, seated in his room, trying to understand the mind and the motivations behind the mentality of the criminal.The room of Akshay was a wall with more than 500 actual newspaper clippings.

In a discussion about the clippings and the scene the director Ranjit M Tewari stated: “Akshay sir’s character – Arjan Sethi – is obsessed with the criminal world and also the realm of serial murder.He begins his journey as an actor of film maker in the Punjabi film industry who is obsessed , and has completed research over the course of seven to ten years in order to create an film about the crime world.”

The director said that when they were making his character’s world , including the home and the location, it was crucial for the filmmaker to provide Akshay Kumar an environment in the sense that he can feel part of the character Arjan Sethi more than any other actor.

“So we have decorated the whole wall with newspaper clippings and photographers of real people to ensure that he can feel it while shooting, and that he has lived the life and that he has been a part of this world.”

Tiwari said that the production designers, the art department and ADs were all in the same room and decided to search for real imagesand the real newspaper articles that were written on them to set up the space so that he felt part of Arjan Sethi as much as he could.

“So we decided to get them taken from archives websites, research and other websites look for the actual images of the past regardless of whether it was Ted Bundy, or Seema Gavit or Cyanide mohan or anyone else from India and also from foreigners who are serial killers , and real-life articles, and hang them on the wall.And when Akshay Sir saw the film for the first time prior filming, he was so so content with the level of details that went into constructing the foundation upon which he could begin making the film.”

Akshay portrays Arjan Sethi, a dependable sub-inspector who took oath to keep the residents of Kasauli secure.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Pooja Entertainment and directed by Ranjit M Tewari, ‘Cuttputli’ reveals the murderer and unravels the mystery using Arjan’s abilities to unravel the psychological state of the killer.
