Paris 23 August : Paris, Aug 23 : French hotel sector is benefitting from the tourists returning with hotel prices across the country increasing by about one-fifth the industry body MKG said. The Paris-based tourism and hotel consultancy company said that prices for rooms increased in an average of 21.6 percent across the nation while prices climbed in an average of 35 percent in the capital, as reported by the news agency dpa.
Travelers from abroad, particularly from the US have contributed to the high occupancy rates in hotels.
They also benefit from the currency’s weakness that makes traveling to Europe less expensive.
It’s not just traditional destinations that are popular with tourists like Paris as well as the Cote D’Azur that are gaining.
The east and north of France also saw strong growth in tourism.
It is possible that this could be linked to forests burning in the south, as well as the scorching weather that prompted tourists to seek cooler locations.
MKG said that this trend could continue in the future.
The regions of the north-eastern region also benefitted by the return of tourists from close Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
French hotels also show indications of more sales in the off-season compared to last year, thanks to the increased number of bookings.
