The estranged relative of the former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been holding an array of consultations to develop a strategies not just for the civic elections, but also for the 2024 Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
“There are a lot of issues that face Maharashtra. There’s an election of government (the Maha Vikas Aghadi was a former government) and the current government (of CM Eknath Shinde and Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and the upcoming elections,” remarked senior MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar.
According to Nandgaonkar, these and other issues such as the Supreme Court cases, the dispute in the Shiv Sena with the rebels regarding the party’s claim and so on.are taking part in Raj Thackeray’s talks with his group to discuss how the MNS hopes to get into the mainstream of politics with backing from the BJP.
In the early months of June the MNS chief had undergone a hip replacement surgery following which he was recuperating at home and only meeting with select party leaders or other outsiders.
However, there were times when he shared his thoughts on the social mediaplatforms, such as his strong statements regarding the Gujarati-Marwari dispute, which was initiated by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
The row was resolved when he (Governor) offered an apology.
He also hosted a number of celebrities such as Fadnavis or even the veteran playback singer Asha Bhosale as well as other celebrities on occasions at his house with their photos shared through social media.
In April-May of this year the MNS was able to create an enormous impact on the political scene after Raj Thackeray spoke out in favor of calling for a ban on loudspeakers in mosques as well as the Hanuman Chalisa controversy, and endorsed the Uniform Civil Code, etc, with full backing from BJP even though both parties have not yet declare an alliance in any of the upcoming elections.
