“I was saying it ought to be at least 10 seasons and maybe 12 or 13.I was able to lose the last one.” he said.

In the end, Martin didn’t have much influence in the final chapter of Game of Thrones’, since the storyline of the show pushed beyond the plotline that was established by the books he has published thus far.

“I did not contribute anything to the seasons that followed, besides creating the world the story, the world and the characters” he said.

“I believe that I am more influential now (on “House of the Dragona’)than I did on the original show.”

Martin also discussed the unique process used to create an spinoff of the series “House of The Dragon’ in the course of which five teams working on distinct concepts met with Martin in Santa Fe to present their ideas.

“It felt as if it was like we were in the NFL playoffs and I was coaching every team,” he said.”Emotionally it was a little strange.”

Significantly, HBO shelved one concept after a pilot was produced, which featured Naomi Watts and reportedly cost around $30 million.

Martin was rumored to have reservations about the idea before the film was shot, considering that the film was set in “an old fashioned era that was just briefly described” in his work.
