Security is tightened up at Delhi border, Metro ahead of farmers Mahapanchayat

New Delhi, Aug 21 : The Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements to prevent negative incidents prior to the start of the mahapanchayat scheduled for Delhi’s Jantar Mantar by various farmers groups, an official told reporters on Sunday.
The Delhi Police said the gathering of farmers could cause traffic problems and other unwelcome incidents could happen.

It has deployed a huge amount of personnel in the border regions and set up barricades.

Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order Dependra Pathak, the Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, said that they have asked the farmers to return.

Police officials said they learned Sanyukt Kisan’s Morcha and different farmers’ groups were planning to organize an event known as a mahapanchayat Jantar Mantar.

According to the information the the farmer’s chief Rakesh Tikat was stopped by police officers at the Ghazipur border when he was on his way to Jantar Mantar and asked to return.If he did not budge, he was detained and transported to Madhu Vihar police station.
