New Delhi, Aug 20 : Twitter is working on a brand new feature to place a label or tag on phone numbers of verified profiles of users, in addition to the blue badge that the company puts with the verified accounts.App researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered this new feature designed to bring more credibility and authenticity to the site.
This is happening at a moment where Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken Twitter to court to contest the alleged presence of bots on the platform after announcing the cancellation of the $44 billion acquisition.
“Twitter is currently working on a verified phone number label on the profile,” she posted on Saturday.
“I’m thinking it’s related to the integrity of our civic society, which is visible to anyone?” She added.
The new tool could also be beneficial for verified businesses with customer support.
The firm will offer an opt-out option for customers who do not have this label on their mobile phone numbers.
The “blue tick” accounts already require you to have an authentic email address or phone number associated with the.
This new feature will connect numbers to users’ accounts and display their status with an authenticated tag.
Wong also stated that Twitter is working on displaying the ‘Tweet View Count’.
“It’s uncertain if it will be visible only to the author or only to everyone,” she said.
Twitter will also shortly inform users if an embedded tweet was altered or if there’s an updated version of the tweet.
Wong previously discovered the fact that Twitter is currently working on a new feature that could make up a part of its larger upcoming Edit tool.
