New Delhi, Aug 19 : A number of states are reported to be considering seriously the suggestion recently made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to implement the Gati Shakti National Master Plan at the state level as well in order to have a better co-ordination with the Centre when implementing infrastructure projects under the initiative.
The Prime Minister Gati Shakthi National Master Plan, PM’s personal initiative, is aimed at creating jobs by constructing high-quality infrastructure using local technology to interconnect roads and railways, airways as well as waterways in the country.

At a recent high-level meeting of the Prime Minister, to review the progress of numerous infrastructure projects he was reported to have advised Chief Secretaries establish a Gati Shakti Master Plan at the state level.

To accomplish this goal, he advised that state levels units could be set by state governments, and could get guidance from the Prime Minister Gati Shakti National Master Plan, sources who are aware of the developmentssaid.

In the meantime, a few states have been discussing the possibility of creating the Gati Shakti Master Plan at their level, sources told but they added that discussions are still in the preliminary stages as of the moment.

The primary reason behind the Prime Minister’s suggestion to establish state-level variants of Gati Shakti Master Plan was to improve coordination between states and the Centre in the implementation of infrastructure projects in this initiative, according to sources.

This, they added, will lead to more efficient planning and execution of projects, as the crucial areas that need immediate correction to ensure their smooth execution will be dealt with in time.

In his Independence Day speech last year, Modi had announced the idea of Gati Shakti Master Plan which is a Rs 100 lakh crore initiative that aims to begin the multi-modal connectivity in the country.
