London 19th August : Russia’s constant bombardment of Kharkiv the second-largest city in Ukraine is likely intended to maintain significant numbers of troops there “to keep them from being used as an offensive force elsewhere” according to the British Ministry of Defence. At at least 12 civilians were killed in Russian strikes on residential areas of the city on Wednesday, the ministry said in its most recent update on intelligence on Twitter.
It is noted it was noted Kharkiv is within the range of the vast majority of Russian artillery, according to the news agency dpa.
“Multiple rocket launchers, and generally ineffective weapons from the area have caused a lot of destruction across large areas of the city,” the defence intelligence update said.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began at the end of February the British government has been publishing regularly information of its most recent intelligence on the war.
Moscow claims London of a deliberate disinformation campaign.
