Tehran 20 August, Tehran : One of the Iranian citizens detained by the US is “held in a squalid humanitarian situation” because access to medical emergency care is denied, a senior Iranian official has claimed.Kazem Gharibabadi who is the Iranian Judiciary chief’s deputy for international affairs and Secretary of the country’s High Council for Human Rights The remarks were made on Thursday in tweet.
Messrs Sarhangpour, an Iranian citizen, was ordered to pay rental for the house in which he is being held, Gharibabadi said, calling the US actions “barbaric”.
He criticised the US for apprehension of “tens of innocent Iranians” under the pretense of getting around its “cruel and cruel” sanctions, and urged Washington to release “all innocent” Iranian nationals immediately, Xinhua news agency reported.
Gharibabadi’s tweet was posted a just a few hours after Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani declared that Iran was prepared to “immediate” the implementation of the current accord with the US on swaps for prisoners.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Tehran to release Iranian Americans who are being held in the country.
Iran claims that the people are been detained for spying.
In February in February, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that the exchange of prisoners with the US was discussed on the fringes of talks on nuclear issues in Vienna.
