Assam: CAA protesters urged to not disrupt the recruitment drive

Guwahati 18 August : Assam Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday appealed to the CAA protesters to not cause a disturbance during the exam of the huge recruitment campaign scheduled to commence on Sunday.
“We might have different opinions in regards of our views but we should not cause a chaotic atmosphere in one of the biggest recruitment campaigns of the state administration, holding the job hopefuls like hostages,” he said.

Assam is preparing for a major recruitment drive to recruit more than 30,000 people to Grade 3 and 4 positions in the state department of government.

The three-phase process for recruitment will begin on Sunday.

Over 14 lakh applicants are expected to participate in the exam.

The anti-CAA protest is back in the state.

The All Assam Student’s Union (AASU) has planned another round of protests within the next couple of days.

The government of the state is concerned about disruption in the examination if protests and agitation occur on the day of examination.

Hazarika In the meantime, while taking a jab at AASU and other organizations she also claimed that during the protest in 2019 against the CAA certain leaders and organizations have misled the people with incorrect and twisted facts and statements.Some of the miscreants even destroyed many property in Guwahati such as Kalaskhetra in the name of protests.

“Yet the people realised that reality, and gave their consent to the present government” he added.

Notably the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had already held an online meeting with the government officials and other stakeholders on Wednesday.

He advised them to take all the necessary steps to ensure a smooth exam process.
