New Delhi, Aug 18 : Google Cloud has announced it will be shutting its core internet of things (IoT) services and customers will have until August of next year to transition to a different service.Google Cloud rivals Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft also provide similar IoT services.
While AWS offers ‘IoT Core’,’ Microsoft offers ‘IoT Hub as a an element of it’s Azure cloud platform.
“Google Cloud’s IoT Core Service will be removed on August 16 2023.
At that point access to the IoT Core Device Manager APIs will be no longer accessible,” Google Cloud’s IoT Core Product Team announced in an announcement.
“We suggest that you take action before you decide to switch from IoT Core to an alternative service.
In the beginning to begin, make contact with your Google Cloud account manager if you have any questions regarding your plans to migrate,” the company advised.
Google Cloud launched IoT Core Services in 2017 to simplify the process of transmitting data from connected devices into a company’s cloud environment.
Companies can utilize IoT Core to define the configuration settings of new connected devices.
“IoT Core is a fully-managed service that lets you quickly and safely connect, manage, and access information from millions of worldwide dispersed devices,” according to the company.
IoT Core, in combination with other services offered by Google Cloud, provides a complete solution for gathering and processing, analysing and visualising IoT data in real-time for an increase in efficiency of operations.
