New Delhi, Aug 17 : In advance of the Assembly elections, Himachal Pradesh Congress working president Pawan Kumar Kajal has joined the BJP on Wednesday.Two-time Vice President and MLA of the Himachal Pradesh Congress, Lakhvinder Rana joined the BJP along with Kajal at an event held at the party’s headquarters in the national capital here.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur Jairam Thakur, the party’s general secretary national Arun Singh Media department director Anil Baluni and others were also present at the event.
Kajal and Rana are both two-time MLAs from Kangra and Nalagarh respectively.
In welcoming both leaders, Jairam Thakur said: “Kajal is a major OBC leader and his participation will help strengthen the OBC party.”
Thakur stated that Assembly elections will take place in November and that the party is progressing with its plans for the election.
He said that, as in other states the Congress is out of Himachal Pradesh as well.
In expressing his confidence of getting the Assembly elections, Thakur stated: “The BJP will change the practice of changing the government every five years as it was the case in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.”
Following his joining, Kajal said that he joined the BJP in accordance with the opinions of those of his district.
