Mumbai 17 August : The teaser of the film’s upcoming “Siya” premiered on Wednesday.The film is the debut of the director of producer Manish Mundra who is a human-centered story that is set in the Indian heartland, which hopes to provoke discussion and debate about the way society treats women and oppressive social structures.The teaser gives viewers an understanding of the horror and despair of the many victims of violence and rape suffer.It also sheds an eye on the shocking disregard with the subject of rape is dealt with in the nation.
It also reminds viewers of the Hathras 2020 murder and gangrape case in which a Dalit woman was raped and killed by upper caste men in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.
In a statement on the occasion the director Manish Mundra, who previously made films like ‘Ankhon Dekhi’, “Masaan Newton’ and ‘Ankhon Dekhi” and ‘Newton’, stated in an announcement: “‘Siya’ isn’t just an film, it’s an act of protest.It’s a voice that can resonate with those who have endured inconceivable physical, emotional and mental suffering.Although the film is based on the outskirts of the heartland of India as is the majority of our other films, it appeals to an international audience.”
The film is produced by Drishyam Films, the makers of Masaan and Newton the film tells the story of an ordinary girl who, regardless of obstacles she decides to uproot the oppressive patriarchy and fight for equality.The film features Pooja Pandey and Vineeet Singh.
The film is scheduled to be released in India on 16 September.
