Hong Kong, Aug 16 : The hot summer weather in China has harmed Apple as well as Toyota suppliers.The government has ordered the majority of factories to stop production until the at the end of this week to avoid planned power outages, media reported on Tuesday.
China’s Sichuan provincial government has instructed producers including suppliers to Apple and Toyota Motor, “to suspend production” in order to keep the extreme heat wave in mind, according to Nikkei Asia.

Chengdu is the city of Chengdu is the primary production center of Foxconn which manufactures tablets as well as Apple Watches.

The report that cited sources said that the plant was shut down operations, but the “impact isn’t significant at the moment”.

BOE Technology Group, that provides display panels for Apple and other tech firms, has shut down the plant.

The government is “trying to ensure that electricity is available for use on a daily basis with the demand for electricity rising dramatically because of the hot summer weather”.

Additionally, power restrictions have been put in place in Chongqing along with the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu in the report raising concerns about supply chain issues that impacted the economic sector in the second quarter due to Covid lockdowns.

Toyota has an operation in Chengdu which operates as an alliance with an Chinese company.

It was instructed to stop operations until August 20th according to the report.

China’s National Meteorological Centre had issued an alert in the last week that was orange which was the second-highest alert for temperatures that are high as the intense heat wave persists in various areas of China.

Parts of Sichuan, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hubei, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, and Xinjiang were likely to experience temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in the regions of Shaanxi, Hubei, and Chongqing could reach 40 degrees, the report said.

The Center advised the public to stay away from activities outdoors during high temperatures and suggested that people cut down on the amount of time they are exposed to high temperatures outdoors.
