Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh hands over multiple indigenous arms to the Army

New Delhi, Aug 16 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday handed several indigenous weapons as well as ammunition to the Indian Army to further boost the defence sector of the country.
This collection of guns includes anti-personnel landmines “Nipun,” landing attack craft to be used in Pangong Tso lake, infantry combat vehicles as well as numerous different weapon systems.

Lieutenant General Harpal Singh said, “The Union government has taken a number of policy decisions to encourage the indigenisation of the defense sector.The indigenous weapons that are used include mines and weapons of combat in face-to-face and infantry combat vehicles.”

Rajnath Singh handed over the weapons to the Army in the face of increasing difficulties at the borders of the country.The weapons comprise AK-203 assault rifles as well as F-INSAS (Futuristic Infantry Soldier as a System) rifles, as well as the latest anti-personnel mine called ‘Nipun’.

They were designed by Nagpur-based private company Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL) as well as other Indian manufacturing companies in the field of defence.

On this occasion the Chief Engineer of the Indian Army, Lt Gen.Harpal Singh, on behalf of the Army Chief has assured the nation that the Army is prepared to take on with any security threat “whether it’s in the Western Desert (Pakistan) or high altitude regions (China) in the Ladakh sector.
