In the first shipment of 25,000 packages bearing images of the national poet Taras Shevchenko and the controversial Ukrainian anti-Semite and nationalist Stepan Bandera are to go to the front.

The honey is derived from the origins of Shevchenko and Bandera in the central Ukrainian region of Cherkasy and the western region of Ukrainian Ivano-Frankivsk.

“There isn’t a common languages with the Muscovites. And with honey, too,” it says on the packaging decorated with Bandera.

Bandera was the leader in the ideological sphere of the radical section of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN).

Nationalist partisans from the western part of Ukraine have been responsible for the ethnically driven expulsions in 1943 in which hundreds of thousands of Polish civilians were killed.

Bandera left for Germany following World War II, where he was killed by an agent of the KGB Soviet secret service in 1959.

For the next series Ukrainians should suggest alternative formats, Yushchenko demanded.

“We are the most powerful army in the world.Because the strength and power of the army is not measured solely through the quantity of tanks however, but by the force of the spirit!” The politician wrote.

Yushchenko was the president of Ukraine in 2005 until the year 2010.

He was elected to power through an unprecedented third round of elections triggered by protests in the streets in 2004.

In the initial round of the presidential election in 2010, he awarded Bandera the title of “Hero of Ukraine” despite the fact that he was never an Ukrainian citizen.

The decision was rescinded by the successor to Yushchenko, Viktor Yanukovych.
