New Delhi, Aug 12 : All-rounder Washington Sundar, who recently suffered a shoulder injury in the List A game in Manchester, England, is doubtful for India’s tour of Zimbabwe in which India will be playing three ODIs.KL Rahul’s Indian team will depart to Zimbabwe early on Saturday with VVS Laxman in charge as head coach.
The team’s captain, however, Sundar, who was scheduled to travel to Harare from the UK is a shaky possibility due to his fitness according to according to a Cricbuzz report stated.
Sundar injured his shoulder when he dived onto the field during the Royal London One-Day match between Lancashire and Worcestershire at Old Trafford on Wednesday .
The Lancashire County Cricket Club, who he was a member of posted an update on social media.
“@Sundarwashi5 has left the field following treatment for his left shoulder after an impact that was heavy (sic),” Lancashire County Cricket Club stated in an official tweet.
In the meantime, National Cricket Academy (NCA) director Laxman has been appointed to oversee the squad in the absence of the regular coach Rahul Dravid.Dravid has just returned from an extended trip of England, West Indies and the USA.Other individuals of the support staff traveling to Harare are Sairaj Bahutule and Hrishikesh Kanitkar.
In addition, Rahul was added as a last-minute player to the 15-member squad that was announced prior to the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan.
It was reported that Rahul was included at Dravid’s suggestion with the aim of ensuring that the batter gets crucial game-time before the start of the Asia Cup, which immediately follows the Zimbabwe matches.
India will be playing three ODIs as a of the of ICC Super League in Zimbabwe on August 18 20, and 22, at the Harare Sports Club.
Zimbabwe is in good form recently and has defeated Bangladesh in both ODI and Twenty20 International home series that ended on August 10.
