New Delhi, Aug 11 : In advance of the massive protest to fight inflation in Delhi the Congress plans to increase the agitation program starting at the village level, and include retail and mandi workers in the process.The party will hold “Mehangai Chaupal” interactive gatherings at mandis, retail markets and other places in all constituencies of the assembly between August 17 and 23rd.
The group will print the booklets and give them out to state institutions and then translate them, make them available in the language of the country, and after that distribute them to the general public.
The Congress hopes to connect with the people this time around and as the party’s feedback suggests that its nationwide protest on the 5th of August against the Modi government’s anti-people policies resonated with the majority of the population.
The Congress will also organize an agitation to demand to rescind the Agnipath scheme the party’s MP Deepender Singh Hooda said.”After August 15th, we’ll take to the streets, like we did in our fight against inflation, to demonstrate against the plight of unemployment and call for a a rollback of the Agnipath scheme,” Hooda said.
The Congress has offered its full backing to the “Jai jawan, Jai Kisan campaign initiated by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and to the united front of former servicemen, who struggled for ‘One rank, one pension’.Congress will give its all of its backing to the fight to stop the Agnipath scheme.
The Congress held a national protest against unemployment and inflation on August 5, during which several party leaders including Rahul Gandhi as well as Priyanka Gandhi, were arrested.
The party will move this battle forward with an array of protests against the rise in prices and joblessness in the next few weeks.
The protests will culminate in the “Mehangai Par Halla Bol” rally on the 28th of August in the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi which will be addressed by top Congress leaders.Pradesh Congress Committees will simultaneously organize “Mehangai Par Halla Bol” Chalo Dilli” events at the district, state and block levels.
The Congress stated that the Indian people of India suffer due to the effects of the Modi government’s economic poor management.Inflation is being exacerbated due to the higher prices on essential items such as buttermilk, curd, and packaged foodgrains, the transfer of public assets to crony capitalists as well as the implementation of the flawed Agnipath scheme make a bad job situation even worse.
