Chennai, Aug 11 : Chief Minister M.K.Stalin expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appreciating Tamil Nadu for hosting the event successfully.of the Chess Olympiad.Modi had in an online post immediately following the end of the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the Tamil Nadu government for the excellent host it played for the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad.
The Prime Minister in his announcement, “The people and the Government of Tamil Nadu have been wonderful hosts of the 44th Chess Olympiad.I’d like to thank them for welcoming visitors from all over the world and showcasing their outstanding hospitality and culture.”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in his response on Thursday, said “Thank Hon’ble PM@narendramodi, thank you for your gracious remarks of praise.Self-respect and hospitality are two essential traits of Tamils.I would like to thank you for your continuous support and ask for Tamil Nadu be awarded more opportunities to host these international events.”
It is worth noting that the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad was to be held in Russia but after the Ukraine conflict the International Chess Association wanted to leave Russia and the mantle was handed over to India.Tamil Nadu immediately accepted the offer and announced it would be hosting the 44th FIDE Chess championship.
