Hyundai to recall nearly 70K vehicles due to defective components

Seoul 11 August : Hyundai Motor will release a voluntary recall of over 70,000 cars in order to repair defective components the Transport Ministry said on Thursday.
Hyundai recalls 70,582 units of six models, which comprise the Xcient QZ Heavy Duty truck as well as the County bus the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced in an announcement.

Along with the recall of Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz Korea is also scheduled to recall 438 units of five models that include the EQE 350+ and EQS Pure Electric 450+ sedans, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The issues that led to the recall include a potential power loss caused by a defective alternator part in Hyundai’s Mighty truck, as well as a malfunctioning pintle hook in Mercedes-Benz’s EQS All-electric 450+ sedan it said.

The owners of these vehicles can go to designated repair and service centers of Hyundai as well as the German car maker on Thursday and Friday respectively, to repair the parts for free of cost the Ministry of Finance said.

In the last week, Hyundai Motor said that the number of sales of their eco-friendly vehicles had surpassed 1 million in July 13 years after its introduction to the market for green cars.

The automaking giant said its Hyundai and Kia sold a combined 29,484 environmentally-friendly vehicles in July alone, raising their cumulative sales to 1.024 million.

The milestone was achieved following Hyundai Motor Group entered the green car market in July 2009 with the launch of the hybrid version of the Avante subcompact.
