Pakistani boxers disappear from Birmingham airport

Islamabad 10 August : Pakistans boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeer Ullah Khan are missing in Birmingham following the closing of the Commonwealth Games, media reports stated.
The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) is looking for the boxers with the assistance of the local authorities.

Nazeer and Suleman’s travel documents remain in the possession of PBF, Samaa TV reported.

According to reports the pair went missing at the airport prior to departing for Pakistan according to the report.

The Pakistan Olympic Association has formed an inquiry committee consisting of four members.the issue.

“We will not let these boxers ruin the image of our nation at any price.British police will shortly be able to locate the culprits,” said POA Secretary General Mohammad Khalid Mahmood.

It is worth noting that heavyweight boxer (86-92 kg) Nazeer was knocked out in the Round of 16 while Suleman Baloch fell in the Round of 32 in the light welterweight division (60-63.5 kg) at the recent-concluded Commonwealth Games.

Pakistan’s contingent at the Commonwealth Games consisted of five boxers and four officials.

In the past, Pakistani swimmer Faizan Akbar was missing in Hungary after arriving there in June of this year.

The 22-year-old, an all-time gold medallist for the national team was scheduled to take part in the 19th FINA World Championships in Budapest.

Akbar was evicted of the hotel in Budapest without informing his roommate, and he never came back, Samaa TV reported.
