Panaji 10 August : The Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports Shripad Naik stated that on Wednesday, work on the Mopa airport had been delayed because of court cases but the airport can be completed in another two to three months. “There are many reasons behind the delay in the completion of Mopa airport construction.
After the purchase of land, there were cases (were were fought) in the high court and Supreme Court.Also, there was a stay.
The work is now 98 percent is complete.In the next two to three months, the whole work will be finished,” Naik said.
“Mopa airport is going to be one of the most beautiful airports in India.I am grateful to all who donated land for this airport as well as those who have backed the project,” he said.
“The future of the economy of the state is with the Mopa airport which will help boost tourism.The defense airport in Dabolim airport isn’t adequate for us and that is why we need the airport.” Naik said.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently announced that the opening of Mopa airport was delayed, and was expected to be held between August 15 and.
