Bhubaneswar 8 Aug : Odisha Vigilance on Monday uncovered six expensive vehicles seven plots of land, four tall structures as well as other important assets in the property of Additional Commissionerfor GST Piyush Kanta Pani, the officials said. In the wake of allegations of possession of excessive assets, the security teams carried out simultaneous raids on the properties of Pani in seven locations in Khordha, Cuttack, and Jajpur districts.
The vigilance officers discovered seven plots in the prime area of Bhubaneswar whose registered sale deeds stated the price as 1.87 crore.However the real value could be much greater, the officials claimed.
Pani has three-storey residential buildings in Bhubaneswar worth Rs 59 lakh.There are also three triple-storey building on Jajpur Road (Rs 68.46 lakh) and a farm house with outhouse in Andharua, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 38 lakh.
The anti-corruption wing’s sleuths discovered six expensive cars (Skoda Octavia Volkswagen Taigun, Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Superb and Skoda Ameo) worth Rs 60 lakh.
In addition, insurance and bank deposits of up to 53.68 lakh as well as gold jewellery of 20 lakh as well with household items and cash worth about 12.30 lakh were discovered in the belongings of the GST official and his family members.The vigilance is carrying out additional searches to find additional assets of the official.
