Mysuru, Aug .8 : Shreyas Gopal played an impressive hand with the bat, before Shubhang Hegde picked up four wickets.The Mysore Warriors put on a show for the crowd at home beating the Shivamogga Strikers by 69 runs in the second match of Maharaja KCSA T20 Trophy at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground.
In the first innings, Mysore lost a couple of early wickets in Nihal Ullal (6) and Naga Bharath (1) prior to captain Karun Nair and Pavan Deshpande got their game moving.

The pair took the pressure, but then broke loose as the powerplay concluded with the score being 41-2.Karun was in his quest to achieving a an impressive score, but the captain of the opposition K Gowtham dismissed him for 27.

This was enough to bring Gopal into the middle and he continued to take the stuffing out of the Shivamogga bowling lineup.He was shrewd in his approach and had excellent company in Deshpande who was the most comfortable seat in the house to watch Shreyas unleash his full arsenal of strokes in the park in the 39-ball knock.

He hit five boundaries and three sixes while scoring 62, giving the home crowd with plenty to cheer about.Shreyas and Deshpande put up an impressive display of 89 runs before the southpaw was beaten by Gowtham for 43 runs.

Shivraj S and Shubhang added a few fiery blows in the final overs as Mysore requested Shivamogga to score 173 to victory.For the Strikers Gowtham and Stallin Hoover took two of wickets, and Avinash D took the big wicket of Shreyas who was dropped twice first in the 8th over, and later in the 19th over.

In the face of a hefty required run-rate Strikers’ batters were forced to fall in attempts to keep pace with.In the powerplay they were beaten by Rohan Kadam, Stallin Hoover, Krishnamurthy Siddharth and Smaran R in rapid succession, leaving them at 28-4.

Mysore were playing brilliantly and their bowling was top-of-the-line also and the Strikers’ didn’t have to be able to claim any freebies.Gowtham tried to attack, however he was dismissed at 23 before rain stopped the game and reduced the total to 161 after 18 overs.

Avinash was the first to leave at 9 when the Strikers began to fall like a pile of cards.Hegde then took wickets of Rajvir Wadhwa and MB Darshan in the same over to increase his wickets to four.

Shreyas then took out KC Cariappa for 10 in the 14th over.Vidyadhar Patil wrapped up the innings with the wicket of Vinay Sagar for 18.The batters were dismissed for 91.
