New Delhi, Aug 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief J.P.Nadda and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and former Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India and lawmakers from the ruling party as well as the Opposition have cast their ballots on the weekend in the Parliament House complex for the election of the Vice-President of the country.
Modi used his vote in Parliament by arriving in Parliament at 10 a.m.Former Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, arrived in a wheelchair because he is sick and voted.Many members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh also have voted.

Voting in the vice-presidential race began at 10 a.m.and will continue until 5 p.m.Votes are recorded in the evening and the results are likely to be announced at 7 p.m.

Jagdeep Dhankhar of the NDA and the Opposition’s Margaret Alva are in the fight in the Vice-Presidential election.

The total of 788 members from both Chambres of Parliament can vote in the elections of the Vice-President.

If you think in terms of the numbers, NDA candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar is the most likely candidate to win, however in the context of the Presidential election the BJP is working on a plan to gain more MPs’ votes so that its candidate could be able to win with an enormous margin.

The Trinamool Congress, a major opposition party has decided to stay away from the Vice presidential election.Biju Janata Dal (BJD), YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have declared that they will support the NDA candidate in order to ensure a massive victory for Dhankhar.
