Putin prohibits investors who are hostile from making deals in strategic companies, projects

Moscow the 6th of August : Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that prohibits “unfriendly” investors from entering into deals with their shares in strategic Russian companies and projects through the end of the year.
The decree, which was published on the official portal of the country for information on legal matters, bans foreigners who are associated with “unfriendly nations” to conduct any type of transaction with their assets and shares in strategic Russian banks and businesses up to December 31, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

In accordance with the decree the decree, foreign investors are prohibited from conducting trades with shares in the Sakhalin-1 project for oil and gas and the Kharyaginskoye oil field project.

The Russian President has instructed the Central Bank and the government to prepare the list of all banks that will be covered by the decree within 10 days.

In the absence of any exceptions to this, certain transactions are allowed only if it is determined to be approved by Putin and the decree may be extended beyond the date of expiration.

“The measures will be taken to safeguard Russia’s national interests as well as in reaction to the actions hostile of the US and other countries and organisations,” according to the decree.
