Chandigarh : , Jan 1, 2017: Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit was blamed for a ‘deliberate and ‘inordinate delay’ in clearing the file on regularisation services.On Saturday, Charanjit Singh Channi, Chief Minister of Punjab, stated categorically, that Governor is the Constitutional head state, but is being subject to political pressure from the BJP ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state.Channi addressed the media, saying that the Chief Secretary, and even himself, had met with the Governor to clear the file.He also said that earlier, he believed that the Governor was busy somewhere else, but that now it is “clear that he’s unnecessarily sitting on the file.”
Channi stated, “It’s the future of many employees who have anxiously waited for a day where their services would become regularised, on par with those of their peers in the state government.”
After carefully examining all options to allow regularisation, the Chief Minister stated that the legislation was passed by the Vidhan Sabha.
Channi stated without hesitation that he will stage a Dharna before the Raj Bhawan with Cabinet members and MLAs of his party to protect the legal rights of employees.
Earlier in his speech, Channi had outlined some of the most important pro-people actions taken by his government in 100 days of power.
These included setting up several chairs to honor eminent figures such as Bhagwan Vamiki, Guru Ravidass and Bhagat Kbir.Ambdekar, Bhai Makhan Shah Lubaana and a research center for the three epics Ramayana and Mahabharats, as well as Bhai Makhan Shah Lubaana.
Channi answered a question about establishing another chair named Shaheed Udham Singh Sunam and assured him that he would definitely look into the issue to establish a chair as a tribute to the immense contribution made by the revolutionary leader in the struggle for national freedom.
Channi stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to increase employment opportunities for youth unemployed.
He said that his government has already reached an advanced stage in implementing the Employment Guarantee Scheme.This scheme will be made public as soon as all the details are clear.
The notification has been sent in the matter and he stated that the regularization of the services of the 4,587 “safai” sewaks (sewer men) working under contract with various urban bodies was already in progress.
Channi responded to a question and said that investigation into sacrilege cases is ongoing by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The case will reach its logical conclusion as soon as possible.
He also stated that all big sharks involved in the drug mafia will be punished according to the law.
Channi referred to recent alleged sacrilege cases at the Golden Temple.He said that his government had already offered support to and cooperate with the SGPC.
The latter is currently conducting an investigation at its level.
