Chennai 31 December : .Tamil Nadu Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.
K.Sekar Babu stated that the temples of the state will be open until midnight on New Years’ Eve.In a Thursday statement, the minister stated that those who visit these temples should adhere to Covid-19 acceptable behaviour, including wearing masks and keeping social distance between each other. He also suggested that hand washing be done.
This decision was made at Chief Minister M.K.Stalin’s request. He had previously directed that devotees used to visiting temples during New Year’s Eve must be permitted to pray and perform poojas.
As usual, special poojas will take place at Subramania Swamy temple Tiruttani on New Year’s Eve.This is where special puja will be performed on the steps leading to the hilltop shrine.
According to him, the government had a positive response to devotees’ demands because it was a government of the people and didn’t want to harm the feelings of citizens.
