Johannesburg, December 30, : , South Africa’s wicketkeeper Quinton De Kock announced on Thursday that he will be retiring from Test cricket immediately.This announcement was made after India’s first Test match in Centurion.India won the match by 113 runs.It also gave the Proteas a 1-0 lead for the series.
According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), De Kock, 29, stated that he wanted more time with his family and was the reason for his early retirement.The CSA released a statement saying that De Kock and Sasha are looking forward to the birth of their first child soon.
De Kock stated that “this isn’t a decision I made easily.” “Sasha and my first baby are coming into the world, so I’ve taken time to reflect on my options and prioritize what I need to do.We also want to expand our family.
He said, “My family means everything to me.I want the space and time to spend with them in this exciting new chapter of my life.”
In 2014, the wicketkeeper batsman made Proteas Test debut in Australia.He scored 3300 runs in 54 matches with an average run of 38.82, and a strike rate of 70.93.Six centuries, 22 half-centuries and 22 full centuries are also his accomplishments.
