Shapovalov was a 20-time Grand Slam winner, and had previously competed at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi before arriving in Sydney.
Shapovalov reached the quarterfinals of last year’s US Open and was ranked No.1 in the world, a record for her career.10, in September 2020 was the first group of players who arrived for the Australian swing.
Shapovalov’s COVID-positive status will mean that he must be isolated for 10 days.This would prevent him from participating in the ATP Cup which begins on January 1.It is unlikely that it will affect his chances to compete in the Australian Open.
