Chennai, December 14, : .The bank sector unions announced a two-day strike.
There was no guarantee that the Parliament would delay the introduction of Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2021.Venkatachalam is the General Secretary of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA).According to him, the adjourned meeting of conciliation called by the Additional Chief Labor Commissioner was held Tuesday between Indian Banks Association and Government in Delhi.
IBA and the Government representatives could not offer any assurance that the Bill would be delayed in Parliament.
Accordingly, the strike of December 16-17 is in effect.Venkatachalam stated that the conciliation meeting had been postponed to Wednesday.
The bank unions are against the privatisation of government owned banks.
The government had earlier said it would privatise two of its banks.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella body of bank unions, have called for strike against privatisation of the banks.
