Mumbai, December 14, 2018 : .Aditya Kripalani, Indie filmmaker and author of the book “Asian Film Festival of Barcelona 2021”, is the first Indian filmmaker invited to the jury. The film he directed, “Not Today”, which is a suicide prevention movie starring Harshchhaya and Rucha inamdar was officially released by Filmin Spain. The festival has also selected it for the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinemas (NETPAC).
Aditya recently released the poster for their movie ‘Not Today. He said, “In just one image, we tried to convey the emotion of suicide prevention. We found it.Gargi Upadhyay, postermaker. This hand-drawn poster captures the feeling we had of falling into a rabbit hole, but not being caught until you reach the exit.It was a great feeling to have it shared by so many, such as Manoj Bajpayee sir and Gajraj Rao sir.
Some of his films include ‘Tikli and Laxmi Bomb,’ ‘Tottaa Pataaka Item Maal’ and ‘Devi Aur Hero’.He also shared his thoughts about the film’s concept, saying that “Not Today” is about suicide prevention centers and the lives of counselors working there.Their cases and how they affect them. It’s hard not to make it personal.Sometimes you just don’t even know who the person is.It’s amazing how life is so bizarre.Suicide prevention has become a more pressing issue in recent years, not only for our country but all over the globe.
Aditya spoke about his experience of being invited to the jury for the film festival.”It was lovely first to see people from so many different countries reacting to the film exactly as we had intended. And then to be amongst so many other fiction and documentary filmmakers who were also doing jury duty in different categories.
To see how they deliberate and how hard they fight to be just was refreshing. All the judges cared a lot about justice. At least those I spent time with.It was quite a mix of people.”
Also, Aditya Kripalani is now working on an international film starring Indian actress Priya Bapat and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan. The film is called ‘Father Like’ and it also stars international actor Lee Huat.
The film is about an Indian woman looking for her father in Singapore. She has enlisted the help of a Chinese taxi driver (played by Lee Huat) to find her real father.
The film is slated to be shot extensively in Singapore and will be in English.
