Jakarta, December 14, : , The Indonesian Police’s Anti-Terror Squad, Densus 88 has taken four terrorist suspects into custody in Palembang, Lubuklinggau and South Sumatra, according to a police officer.The spokesman for the South Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Supriadi, stated that they are linked to Jamaah Islamiyah, a militant group outlawed, and were suspected of plotting attacks on Christmas and New Year.
Four months had passed since the police first observed these four men and then they were arrested.He said that they were now being held for further investigation.
Following the arrest, Supriadi said the police would strengthen security during the holidays, particularly at places of worship, urging people to immediately report to the police if they find something suspicious, Xinhua news agency reported.
