Colombo 13 December : .Angelo Mathews, who was injured in the last match of Lanka Premier League 2021 at the R Premadasa Stadium, led Colombo Stars’ win by leading them to victory with 41 runs over Galle Gladiators.
He also scored a crucial 57-ball score of 73.Mathews, the Colombo Stars’ captain, opened the innings.He helped his team post a respectable total of 162/7 during the rain-curtailed 18 over match on Sunday.His innings included 8 boundaries and three sixes.
Dinesh Chandimal, who scored 36 runs from 14, scoring 4 fours and 2 sixes during his Colombo Stars innings, was another boost to the Colombo Stars’ innings.
Galle Gladiators lost to Stars in reply.
Naveen ul-Haq, Stars’ pacer claimed 3 runs for 27.This was their second consecutive defeat in just two days.Kusal Mendis was able to score 64 runs with just 39 balls.He also scored 7 fours and one six during the chase.
He was not supported by the rest of the Galle Gladiators’ batsmen.
Seekuge Prasanna, who took 2 for 23, and Ravi Rampaul, who picked 2 for 34, also contributed with the ball for Colombo Stars as they picked up only their second win of the season.
