Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh Dec 12, 2012 : .The final rites for Lance Naik Sai Teja took place with military honors in emotional scenes at Yeguvaregadi, Andhra Pradesh’s native village.His death had been caused by the helicopter accident on December 8, 2008 that resulted to the deaths of General Bipin Rawat (CDS), his wife Madhulika Rawat and 10 defence personnel in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.
Sai Teja served as the Personal Security Officer for CDS Gen Rawat.
Sai Teja, a Kuruba citizen, joined the Indian Army as a serpoy in 2012.He was selected to receive paracommando training while he served in Bangalore Regiment.
He was promoted to the position of PSO for CDS last year.
On Saturday, the soldier’s corpse was identified and was transported by road from Bengaluru back to his village.
Many youth, many of whom held the flag and raised slogans like “Sai Teja Amar Rahe”, joined the procession on motorbikes.
The flowers were also sprinkled on the ambulance that carried the body.
Teja’s parents, wife, children and other family members were inconsolable.
Sai Teja, 27, is survived by wife Shyamala, son Mokshagana, 4, and a daughter Darshini, 2.
