V.Ramana Monday stated that the Indian Supreme Court should examine every day whether their decisions are right and evaluate if there are any negative characteristics.He stressed that people in democracy are the ultimate lords, and dispensation decisions should be beneficial to them.
Justice Ramana made these remarks while giving the 40th Convocation Address of Sri Sathya Sai Institute for Higher Learning, Andhra Pradesh.

Justice Ramana cited ancient scriptures Mahabharat, Ramayana to say that there were 14 negative qualities in rulers they should avoid.

He stated that all the leaders in the democratic system should examine their character before they begin routine work.

It is necessary to provide just administration, and that it be tailored to the needs of people.The Chief Justice gave a speech in English and then addressed the crowd in Telugu.

Justice Ramana stated that people are the supreme lords of democracy, and any decision taken by the dispensation should be in their favor.Further, he stated that he wanted all systems to be autonomous within the country and honest with the aim of serving the people.This was also what Sathya Saibaba said.

Justice Ramana stated in English that the current education system tends only to address the “utilitarian” function of education, and is not equipped for the spiritual and moral function which develops the student’s character.

His words were: “Unfortunately the modern education system tends only to focus on the utilitarian’ role of education.This system does not have the capacity to address the’morality’ and’spiritual functions of education, which build the character and allow students to feel responsible and socially conscious.

He said that education truly is one that instills the virtues of humility and selflessness as well as compassion and tolerance.

You will need to get along with people of different backgrounds who may challenge you from time to time.Be patient.Justice Ramana said that you should hold onto core values while you travel this life journey, so you can enjoy all it has to offer.”

The Chief Justice praised the founder of the university, Sathya Saibaba.He said that “education in this prestigious institution has inculcated both moral and ethical values in students.

He advocated a mix of “worldly learning” and “spiritual Learning”.It radiates from this institution.This philosophy flows from Vedic philosophy and our rich mythology.”
