Chennai, November 21st : , Dr Srinivasan was a homeopathy physician at Theni, Tamil Nadu.His family claimed that he had been tortured by the Joint Director for Health Services to get bribe money.According to family, the doctor made the drastic step due to torture from the Tamil Nadu Joint Director of Health Services Dr Lakshmanan, who wanted Rs.20,000 per month from Dr Srinivasan.
Shanthi, Joint Director of Health Services, threatened to shut down the Electro clinic at Lakshmipuram, Periyakulam, in Theni, run by her husband, if Rs 20,000 wasn’t paid each month.
The Joint Director threatened her husband with threats, threatening him that Allopathy medicine would be given at his homeopathy clinic.
He also said that he could seal it if he didn’t receive a bribe.
Shanthi stated in the complaint that her husband was required to give an order by the Madurai Bench at the Madras High court stating that the doctor would run the Tamil Nadu clinic according to the regulations and rules of the Tamil Nadu Health Department.
According to Dr Srinivasan’s wife, he also filed a lawsuit against the Joint Director for Health Services.According to her, she claimed that Dr Srinivasan met with the Joint Director for Health Services and threatened him with closing the clinic.
Also, the wife of the deceased doctor said her husband told her that he had been sealing his clinic.He also claimed that he would not stop until a solution was found.She said that this was November 19.
Later, Dr Srinivasan died in his clinic.The body was then transferred to the family after a postmortem at Theni District Hospital.Local protestors staged a sit-in-dharna to refuse the body.
Police later reported that Dr Lakshmanan, Joint Director of Health Services was being investigated for aiding suicide as per Sec 306 Indian Penal Code.
IANS was informed by senior police officers that Dr Srinivas’ funeral took place Sunday.
Investigations have begun into the circumstances of his death based on complaints made by his wife.
