According to the chief minister, a delegation comprising Chief Secretary Somesh Kul and state ministers will travel to New Delhi to press the Centre for its position on paddy procurement from it.

KCR stated that the Centre had not responded to repeated requests.KCR demanded the Centre set a clear annual goal for paddy procurement to ensure that farmers are guided by the government.

According to the chief minister, he said that if needed, he would meet with Prime Minister NarendraModi regarding paddy procurement.

He said, “After the Centre has made its position clear,” and assured the farmers that they would be able to advise them on the best crops for the next season.

He demanded that the Centre establish a tribunal that would fix the state’s part and warned that any further delays on this issue could lead to massive protest. He asked that the Centre do not test the patience of the state.

KCR reiterated the Centre’s obligation to conduct a caste census on backward classes in order to help with developing appropriate programmes and policies for their welfare.

The Centre says it is sensitive. It’s sensitive. The country has a caste system. We should not be embarrassed about it.He asked, “Why aren’t the governments issuing caste certificate?”
