Guwahati : , Nov 20, 2018 : .Implementation of NEP-2020 (National Education Policy) in northeastern India is harder than in other regions because the 8 state region has 180 languages.
This was stated by Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Chief Minister, at the North East Education Conclave.According to the Chief Minister, a multiethnic society with diverse languages and cultures is a challenge for socio-cultural and literary programs.
We have to make text and syllabus in many languages. Also, we must print the ones that require difficult printing techniques.
The technology is not readily available for different languages.Sarma stated that we had to hire teachers and other staff in many languages.
According to the Chief Minister, the central government plays a major role in the implementation of the NEP in northeastern regions.

It must be on par with the rest of the country,” stated Sarma who served as the Education Minister under the previous BJP government.
The NEP-2020, he stated, would make India stronger, help the country reach greater heights and empower students, giving them the opportunity to grow.
According to the Chief Minister, the “North East Education Conclave” would help in finalizing a plan for the implementation of NEP-2020 in the region. This will allow the policy to be put into practice and establish timelines that lead to realizing the dreams of a New India.
