Bengaluru : , Nov 19, 2018 – Amazon India, the e-commerce company announced Friday that it has partnered with four governments as part of the Amazon Saheli programme to help women entrepreneurs in the country.These entities are the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services(ARIAS), Chhattisgarh State Forest Departments (CG Forest), and Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Societys (JSLPS).
In a statement, Amazon stated that the collaborations are part of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and align with its commitment to digitize 1 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.The company also plans to enable $10 billion in ecommerce exports and create 20 thousand jobs by 2025.
Amazon.in launched the WED Storefront, which features products from women-owned businesses.Customers will be able to search for and buy from nearly 98,000 products, including handicrafts, handlooms, fashion accessories and grocery.
The collaboration includes the Amazon Saheli program, which offers intensive training and skills development workshops to its participants.This helps women entrepreneurs understand online selling and to develop the capabilities to expand their Amazon.in business.
Amazon.in aims to offer unique and regional products in categories such as grocery, home, and fashion accessories to Amazon.in customers.
Sumit Sahay (Director, Seller Partner Services at Amazon India), stated that the collaboration was in line with Amazon India’s commitment to digitize 1 crore MSMEs by 2025.

Sahay said that these partnerships are meant to help women sellers kickstart their ecommerce journeys.
Amazon India’s Amazon Saheli program was launched in 2017 for women entrepreneurs.It enables them to sell on Amazon.in.Amazon Saheli currently works with more than 50 partners, including JSLPS and Amazon.in, to help women entrepreneurs become successful sellers.
