Norway: Boeing receives the first P-8A Poseidon from Boeing

San Francisco, November 19, : , Boeing announced today that five Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft have been accepted by the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency.These will be used for Royal Norwegian Air Force operations.
Vingtor was Norway’s first P-8A plane.It was presented to the NDMA in a ceremony held at Seattle’s Museum of Flight, Washington.

This milestone is four years since the NDMA reached an agreement for the P-8A with the US Navy and two years prior to the scheduled start of the new aircraft taking over maritime patrol duties at Norway’s northernmost coast, according to the announcement.

The four Norwegian aircraft remaining are in advanced production stages and will be delivered by the NDMA to their final destination in 2022.

According to the announcement, the five P-8As will replace six P-3 Orions of the RNoAF and two DA-20 Jet Falcons.

This is also the 142nd P-8 plane delivered to international customers.
