Patna : , November 14, 2014 – While the Nitish Kumar government has come under fire for several scams during its 16-year tenure in power, Darbhanga’s state minority welfare department has detected the latest.It involved scholarships to 376 students from the district.As per the complaint given to the district’s Laheriasarai police station, Mohamad Rizwan Ahmed, the assistant director of the minority welfare department said that 376 students have fraudulently taken scholarship of Rs 30,000 each using fake admission papers in a particular university in Hyderabad.According to the complaint made to Laheriasarai district police station, Mohamad Rizwan Ahmed the assistant director of minority welfare department stated that 376 students had fraudulently received scholarship of Rs.30,000 each by using fake admission papers at a Hyderabad university.The Darbhanga District Magistrate Dr Tyagrajan S.M.also confirmed the scam.The scam was also confirmed by the Darbhanga District Magistrate Dr Tyagrajan S.M.
“During verification of the admission forms and other documents, it has appeared that 376 students have taken the scholarships and all of them had taken admissions in three educational institutions coming under one university, which is the Brilliant Grammar School Education Society in Hyderabad.”During verification of admission forms and other documents it was discovered that 376 students had received scholarships.All of them had taken admissions to three educational institutions falling under the umbrella of one university, the Brilliant Grammar School Education Society (Hyderabad).It was alarming that how coma all the students had taken admissions in one education university and claimed the scholarship,” Rizwan Ahmed said.
Rizwan Ahmed stated that it was alarming to see how many students had been admitted at one university and claimed the scholarship.
“When we cross checked with the educational institution, it was found that the alleged students have used the name of the university to claim the scholarship grant,” he said.
He said that he had checked with the educational institution and found that the students claimed the scholarship grant by using the name of the university.
“Accordingly, we contacted the students who have taken the scholarship.”Accordingly we reached out to the students who had received the scholarship.It was also found that the maximum of these students, 137, belong to Darbhanga district.
Darbhanga was the district that had the highest number of students (137).Of them, 14 students appeared before the department and claimed that the fraudulent act was done by the employees of a cyber cafe,” Rizwan Ahmed said.
Rizwan Ahmed stated that 14 of them appeared before the department and claimed the fraud was committed by employees at a cyber cafe.
“We have asked them to reverse the amount to the department in 10 days otherwise face legal action,” he said.He said, “We have requested them to reverse the amount at the department within 10 days or face legal action.”
Hari Narayan Singh, inspector in-charge of the Laheriasarai police station said: “We have registered a named FIR against the students and further investigation is on.”.Hari Narayan Singh was the inspector in charge of the Laheriasarai Police Station.
He stated that he had registered a FIR named against the students, and that further investigation is underway.
