The Eastern Naval Command is one of the three command-level formations of the Indian Navy, and it is headquartered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.The Visakhapatnam port is one of the largest ports in India.
However, the Visakhapatnam Port has won a prestigious award.The Visakhapatnam port won the award as the third cleanest port in the country.
The award was announced by the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for the year 2019 as part of the Swachhta Pakhwada program.The Visakha Port Trust has ambitiously undertaken the Swachhta Pakhwada program in all departments and branches.
It has carried out large-scale sanitation programs not only inside the port but also in the surrounding areas, and Gnanapuram.Also, the port organized awareness programs on sanitation, environmental protection and conducted competitions on hygiene for students on Saligramapuram, Jalaripeta and beach roads.
The Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced the award recognizing the Visakhapatnam Port Trust as the 3rd cleanest port in the Swachhta Pakhwada program organized by major ports across India.K.Ramamohanarao, Chairman of the Visakha Port Trust, congratulated the port officials and employees on this.
