The Andhra Pradesh state government is further strengthening the ‘Disha’ system set up for women’s safety.The government intends to systematically strengthen visible policing, mainly by strengthening patrols.
In this context, the state government decided to purchase 145 Scorpio vehicles specifically for the ‘Disha’ police system.
Disha patrols will be further strengthened with the decision to purchase the latest Scorpio vehicles.
A total of 50 vehicles will be provided at the rate of 10 vehicles for the five police commissionerates in the state.
A total of 65 vehicles will be provided to police in 13 districts at the rate of 5 vehicles.
Visible policing will be strengthened with these vehicles.Patrolling is mainly done in educational institutions, market places and other populated sensitive areas.
The government has set up Disha Police Stations exclusively at the district headquarters in the state for the safety of women.It has decided to build new six Disha police stations in the state.Therefore, a total of Rs.16.40 crore has been allotted for the construction of each police station at a rate of Rs.2.73 crore for each.
The state government is planning to build Disha police stations with counselling rooms, waiting halls, crutch-feeding rooms, toilets and other facilities.
