The government, which has already made Kurnool district Orvakallu airport available, has now decided to make air services available to Anantapur district through Puttaparthi airport.The Andhra Pradesh state government is taking steps to operate full-fledged commercial services from Puttaparthi Airport in the Anantapur district.
Also, the state government hopes that Puttaparthi will be suitable for development as a drone hub.Bharat Reddy said Puttaparthi could quickly become a drone hub due to its proximity to cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad.It is learned that the Union govt has already approved to conduct of drone tests high in the sky in the Anantapur district.
Andhra Pradesh state government aviation adviser Bharat Reddy said that the government was in talks with members of the Satyasai Trust asking to take over and manage the airport, which had been unused for some time.
As part of this, state industries minister Mekapati Gautam Reddy will hold an important meeting with members of the Satyasai Trust on the 5th of this month.AP Aviation Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) aims to make Puttaparthi Airport commercially available within the next 6 months.
APADCL officials said that for the expansion of the runway and the construction of the gate some space would have to be procured.
