Parliament House of India is 88 years old structure constructed in the year of 1927 is quite old to raise to the expectations of future generations, hence Sumitra Mahajan gave a proposal last year in December to to dismantle existing Parliament and re-construct in the same place or in Rajpath.Sumitra opted for Rajpath a new place of construction of Parliament as it has a large area of space.
Finally proposal of new Parliament building is approved by Center which will be constructed behind Vayu Bhavan in Rajpath.

M Venkaiah Naidu stated that there will also be a tunnel constructed connecting existing parliament with the upcoming parliament complex.Delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies will be in the year 2026 which increases seating capacity of 550.As the present Parliament house can’t accommodate this demand so Government has approved for construction of new parliament house at Rajpath.Estimated time frame for construction of new parliament construction will be five to six years.
The existing Parliament building was constructed in the year 1927.
