About 1500 bags of cotton got completely burnt when an open shed in Khammam cotton market caught fire.Two fire tenders one from Khammam and another from Nelakondapalli rushed to spot and controlled further loss.

According to information about 2200 bags of cotton of Sri Siva Ganesh Krishna Traders which was kept as stock in open shed in the market premises which was purchased from farmers recently.

The staff and some Hamalis noticed flames are spreading from open shed and informed to fire tenders.

Three fire engines reached the spot from Nelakondapally and worked hard to bring the fire under control, due to the late arrival of the fire engines, the damage was already done.Fire crews had to work hard to put out the fire.

The traders kept the cotton bought from the farmers in the Khammam market.The trader has prepared everything to export these cotton bags to Gujarat.

While the trader is claiming loss is Rs one crore but the cotton market officials said the loss was Rs 50 lakhs.

There are many doubts about the fire, did it happen by accident? or created risk for insurance? The investigation is also being done in the following aspects.The trader says that the property has been damaged , so the fire engine which was supposed to be in Khammam market went to Nelakondapalli as per the orders of the authorities.Due to the delay in Khammam’s arrival from there, a lot of property was damaged, three fire engines came after all was burnt.

Police have started an investigation into the accident.10 eyewitnesses have been detained and are being interrogated.Traders say that due to the lack of a fire engine on time, the level of danger was high, on the other hand, there is no security at the market.The actual causes of the past accidents are still unknown.

There is a large scale of allegations that a gang of ganja users roams around the market and commits such incidents.
