Telangana : CM KCR reviews rainfall situation

Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao conducted a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat to assess the heavy rains and floods in the state.

The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of protecting people from natural calamity and urged the entire administration to remain alert and carry out rescue operations with the goal of preventing any loss of life.

He assured that the government machinery is fully prepared to handle any situation and provide necessary assistance to the people.The Chief Minister also requested the departments involved in emergency services and relief operations to stay at their posts without fail.

During the meeting, the Chandrshekar Rao enquired about the flood situation in the Godavari river and its tributaries, particularly in Bhadrachalam, where the river was experiencing heavy inflows.He instructed officials to evacuate people from low-lying areas and move them to relief camps.

With weather officials predicting more heavy rains in the coming days, the CM urged the entire government machinery to remain on high alert.In another review meeting focused on the civil supplies department, the Chief Minister directed officials to increase the milling capacity of rice mills in Telangana state from one crore tonnes to three crore tonnes.

This decision comes in light of the substantial increase in paddy production over the past nine years, thanks to the states pro-agriculture policies.The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to establish more rice mills and food processing industries to convert rice into various food products for export to different states and countries.

These measures aim to ensure better profits for farmers and protect them from losses caused by the Food Corporation of Indias hindrances in rice procurement.
