Vijay Varma, an Indian actor, is looking back on his ten-year journey in the film industry as he attends the Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, he made his debut at the prestigious festival with the film “Monsoon Shootout,” although he was relatively unknown at the time.
Vijay shares that during his first Cannes appearance, stylists were hesitant to dress him due to his lack of recognition in the industry.
Recently, Vijay Varma gained widespread acclaim for his performance in the Prime Video series “Dahaad.” He also attended the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, where the series premiered in the Berlinale series section. The actor rose to prominence with his role as Moeen in Zoya Akhtar’s “Gully Boy.”
During a recent interview at Cannes with Film Companion, the actor opened up about his initial struggles. He recalls that for the main events, he needed a complete suit but found it challenging to find a stylist or designer who would assist him. When he approached them, they were unfamiliar with him and declined to dress him for the occasion.
In a stroke of luck, Vijay managed to acquire a suit from Zara, which he wore for the morning photo call.
Additionally, a friend kindly gifted him a tuxedo for the red carpet.Although he couldn’t afford to purchase the pictures that were released on Getty Images and other platforms, he felt content with his appearance.
Looking back now, he humorously describes himself as resembling a “Marwari Johnny Depp” in those photos.
Alongside Vijay Varma, other notable figures from the Indian film industry, such as actors Esha Gupta and Kangabam Tomba, as well as Oscar-winning filmmaker Guneet Monga, will be part of the Indian delegation walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year.On the other hand, there are rumours that Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia are dating but none of them has responded on these rumours.
