Shimla 17 August, Shimla : The Shimla administration in Shimla has connected the Amrit Mahotsav with conservation of water in 75 ponds dubbed Amrit Sarovars in the district. The administration raised flags over 75 ponds with the message of conservation of water to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The main event was held in Sipur village, close to here in which the 96 year old Moti Ram was invited to fly the flag. The event was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi.
In the direction of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the administration in only a short period of time finished the construction of 75 Amrit Sarovars in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the development of Amrit Sarovar was a difficult task, particularly because of the difficult topography.”Our team performed well.We were successful in creating 75 ponds in the shortest amount of the timeframe,” he said.
After the construction of the ponds, Negi said “We decided to open the ponds in the most unique wayby raising flags over each pond on Independence Day.”
“On every pond, the most senior village resident was invited to raise the Tricolour. This was a plan of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav since water conservation is nothing less than patriotism” Negi told IANS.
He said that the government headed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur helped in this mission, which helped to make it happen in the shortest amount of time.
The government, through various programs, attempted to conserve water.
He said that locals have been associated with the Amrit Sarovar campaign in the sense that they will take care of the ponds. Many villages are planning to transform these ponds into picnic spots.”This is why the concept of the Prime Minister facilitated that the community is involved,” he added.
